Job description

Original text imported from Reed

With its white-glove, concierge level of client service, coupled with its highly prestigious client list comprising many of the sector’s most illustrious names, this global broker’s National Resources Practice feels more akin to that of a boutique practice.

Our client is enjoying a sustained period of organic growth, including the continued acquisition of quality accounts from across the sector, such as biomass, anaerobic digestion, wind and solar. As such, the need has arisen for a Corporate Account Executive to join the team in the North West. Here, you will be working in close conjunction with some of the most talented insurance professionals in the sector.

This role is a ‘servicing’ Account Executive position, with the focus very much on the management of an existing portfolio of clients – you will not be burdened with new business targets. Developing a deep understanding of your clients and the unique exposures that they face within their niches, you will ensure that their insurance programmes are robust and reflect an ever-changing risk landscape. Should any gaps in cover be established, you will work with specialist teams to create innovative solutions to mitigate these. You will be responsible for tasking a dedicated team of Corporate Brokers & Account Handlers to assist you in conducting renewal and marketing exercises, and preparing a variety of reports and management information.

As well as experienced Account Executives from the Energy, Renewable and Natural Resources field, we are keen to hear from middle-market and corporate Account Executives who can demonstrate a knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, these sectors. Equally, we welcome applications from Account Handlers and Underwriters who have professional exposure to such risks, who wish to transition to an Account Executive role.

You must be well-polished, with excellent communication skills – able to secure ‘buy-in’ from C-Suite individuals. You should also have first-rate internal-networking and stakeholder-management skills, in order to utilise the full suite of products and services on offer to clients.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary and a market-leading flexible benefits package that can be tweaked to your own personal circumstances. For the ambitious, this role could lead to a myriad of opportunities for progression, both within this fast-growing division, as well as the in the wider company.

STAR answer examples

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to secure buy-in from C-Suite executives for a complex insurance solution

Situation: A wind farm client faced potential £2.1M exposure from new turbine technology risks that weren't covered under their existing policy. Task: I needed to convince their CEO and CFO to invest in enhanced coverage despite budget constraints. Action: I prepared a comprehensive risk assessment showing three recent industry incidents totalling £8.4M in losses, then presented tailored coverage options with clear ROI calculations. I arranged specialist underwriter meetings to address their technical concerns directly. Result: Secured unanimous board approval for the enhanced programme, protecting the client's £15M asset portfolio and strengthening our relationship through demonstrated expertise.
2Question

Describe a situation where you identified gaps in a client's insurance coverage and how you addressed them

Situation: During a routine portfolio review, I discovered our biomass facility client had no coverage for supply chain disruption despite relying on single-source wood pellet suppliers. Task: Address this critical gap before their upcoming renewal deadline in 6 weeks. Action: I collaborated with our specialist teams to design a bespoke supply chain interruption policy, negotiated terms with 3 underwriters, and presented options showing potential £680k savings versus business interruption claims. Result: Implemented comprehensive supply chain coverage within 4 weeks, later proving invaluable when supplier issues caused 12-day production halt, with our policy covering £420k in losses.
