Job description

Original text imported from Reed

With its white-glove, concierge level of client service, coupled with its highly prestigious client list comprising many of the sector’s most illustrious names, this global broker’s National Resources Practice feels more akin to that of a boutique practice.

Our client is enjoying a sustained period of organic growth, including the continued acquisition of quality accounts from across the sector, such as biomass, anaerobic digestion, wind and solar. As such, the need has arisen for a Corporate Account Executive to join the team in the North West. Here, you will be working in close conjunction with some of the most talented insurance professionals in the sector.

This role is a ‘servicing’ Account Executive position, with the focus very much on the management of an existing portfolio of clients – you will not be burdened with new business targets. Developing a deep understanding of your clients and the unique exposures that they face within their niches, you will ensure that their insurance programmes are robust and reflect an ever-changing risk landscape. Should any gaps in cover be established, you will work with specialist teams to create innovative solutions to mitigate these. You will be responsible for tasking a dedicated team of Corporate Brokers & Account Handlers to assist you in conducting renewal and marketing exercises, and preparing a variety of reports and management information.

As well as experienced Account Executives from the Energy, Renewable and Natural Resources field, we are keen to hear from middle-market and corporate Account Executives who can demonstrate a knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, these sectors. Equally, we welcome applications from Account Handlers and Underwriters who have professional exposure to such risks, who wish to transition to an Account Executive role.

You must be well-polished, with excellent communication skills – able to secure ‘buy-in’ from C-Suite individuals. You should also have first-rate internal-networking and stakeholder-management skills, in order to utilise the full suite of products and services on offer to clients.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary and a market-leading flexible benefits package that can be tweaked to your own personal circumstances. For the ambitious, this role could lead to a myriad of opportunities for progression, both within this fast-growing division, as well as the in the wider company.

1Question

Tell me about a time you secured buy-in from a C-Suite executive for a complex insurance solution

Situation: A renewable energy client's CEO was hesitant about increasing their cyber insurance coverage from £2M to £5M despite new wind farm digital systems. Task: I needed to demonstrate the risk exposure and secure approval for the enhanced programme. Action: I prepared a detailed risk assessment showing how a cyber attack could halt operations across 3 wind farms, potentially costing £800K in lost revenue over 2 weeks. I presented this directly to the CEO with specific industry examples and regulatory requirements. Result: The CEO approved the enhanced coverage within 48 hours, and we implemented the £5M cyber programme that later proved essential when they faced a minor security incident 6 months later.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to manage multiple stakeholders across different teams

Situation: A biomass client needed urgent coverage for new equipment worth £4.2M, requiring coordination between underwriters, risk surveyors, and claims teams within 5 days. Task: I had to align all stakeholders to deliver a comprehensive insurance solution before the equipment went operational. Action: I created a detailed project timeline, scheduled daily check-ins with each team, and personally visited the site with the risk surveyor to expedite the assessment. I also negotiated with 3 underwriters simultaneously to secure competitive terms. Result: We delivered the full insurance programme 2 days ahead of schedule, enabling the client to start operations as planned and generating £180K in annual premium for the business.
