Job description

Original text imported from Reed

With its white-glove, concierge level of client service, coupled with its highly prestigious client list comprising many of the sector’s most illustrious names, this global broker’s National Resources Practice feels more akin to that of a boutique practice.

Our client is enjoying a sustained period of organic growth, including the continued acquisition of quality accounts from across the sector, such as biomass, anaerobic digestion, wind and solar. As such, the need has arisen for a Corporate Account Executive to join the team in the North West. Here, you will be working in close conjunction with some of the most talented insurance professionals in the sector.

This role is a ‘servicing’ Account Executive position, with the focus very much on the management of an existing portfolio of clients – you will not be burdened with new business targets. Developing a deep understanding of your clients and the unique exposures that they face within their niches, you will ensure that their insurance programmes are robust and reflect an ever-changing risk landscape. Should any gaps in cover be established, you will work with specialist teams to create innovative solutions to mitigate these. You will be responsible for tasking a dedicated team of Corporate Brokers & Account Handlers to assist you in conducting renewal and marketing exercises, and preparing a variety of reports and management information.

As well as experienced Account Executives from the Energy, Renewable and Natural Resources field, we are keen to hear from middle-market and corporate Account Executives who can demonstrate a knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, these sectors. Equally, we welcome applications from Account Handlers and Underwriters who have professional exposure to such risks, who wish to transition to an Account Executive role.

You must be well-polished, with excellent communication skills – able to secure ‘buy-in’ from C-Suite individuals. You should also have first-rate internal-networking and stakeholder-management skills, in order to utilise the full suite of products and services on offer to clients.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary and a market-leading flexible benefits package that can be tweaked to your own personal circumstances. For the ambitious, this role could lead to a myriad of opportunities for progression, both within this fast-growing division, as well as the in the wider company.

1Question

Describe a time when you had to secure buy-in from C-Suite executives for an insurance solution

When managing a £2.1M wind farm portfolio, I identified a critical coverage gap in turbine blade protection that could expose the client to £800K in uninsured losses. The CEO was initially resistant due to the additional £65K premium cost. I prepared a detailed risk analysis showing three industry blade failure incidents in the past 18 months, each resulting in £400-600K losses. I presented this data alongside our proposed innovative coverage solution during a board meeting, demonstrating how the premium represented just 8% of potential loss exposure. The CEO approved the enhanced coverage within 48 hours, and we successfully renewed the account with the additional protection in place.
2Question

Tell me about a challenging client relationship you managed and how you resolved issues

A biomass facility client became increasingly frustrated after experiencing three separate claims disputes totalling £320K over six months. The relationship deteriorated to the point where they threatened to move their £1.4M annual premium elsewhere. I immediately arranged a face-to-face meeting with their Operations Director and Risk Manager. Through detailed analysis, I discovered the disputes stemmed from unclear policy wording around equipment breakdown coverage. I worked with our underwriting team to revise the policy language and created a comprehensive claims procedure guide. I also implemented quarterly risk reviews to prevent future misunderstandings. The client renewed their policy and has since referred two additional biomass operators to our practice.
