Application advice

5 AI-generated recommendations to maximise your chances.

1

⭐ Open your CV with a Personal Statement that explicitly names territory sales and account management, as the advert lists both as core requirements in the opening paragraph.

2

📊 Quantify your sales achievements with hard numbers: e.g. 'Grew territory revenue by 34% YoY, closing 28 new accounts in 12 months against a quota of 20.'

3

🎯 Highlight any experience in sportswear, activewear, gymnastics, or adjacent consumer goods sectors — Sylvia P's niche makes industry familiarity a strong differentiator.

4

🌐 Demonstrate remote working capability explicitly: mention tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoom) and results achieved while working autonomously without on-site management.

5

🤝 Include a bullet on cross-functional collaboration — the advert stresses working with internal teams and a National Sales Manager, so show evidence of coordinating across departments to hit shared targets.

STAR answer examples

Model answers using the Situation-Task-Action-Result framework. Adapt to your own experience.

1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded a sales quota in a remote or autonomous working environment — what drove that result?

Situation: In my previous role selling branded apparel to gymnastics clubs across the South East, I was set a quarterly new-business quota of £35,000 working entirely from home. Task: I needed to build a pipeline from scratch in a new territory with no inherited accounts. Action: I mapped 120 clubs using publicly available competition calendars, prioritised the 30 with upcoming kit renewal cycles, and ran a structured outreach cadence of calls, emails, and video demos over six weeks. I also collaborated with the design team to create bespoke sample packs for the top 10 prospects. Result: I closed £52,000 in new business that quarter — 49% above quota — and retained all 12 converted accounts into the following period.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to resolve a significant client complaint. How did you handle it and what was the outcome?

Situation: A key account worth £28,000 annually received an incorrect bulk order of competition leotards three weeks before a national event, putting the relationship at serious risk. Task: I needed to resolve the issue quickly and retain the client's trust. Action: I contacted the client within the hour of the complaint, personally escalated to the production manager, and arranged an expedited reprint at no additional cost. I provided daily progress updates and organised express courier delivery, ensuring the correct order arrived five days before the event. Result: The client received their order on time, publicly thanked the company on social media, and renewed their annual contract — increasing their order value by 15% the following season.
