Working closely with engineering teams, you'll develop fit-for-purpose solutions aligned to client requirements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical Sales Manager / Water Treatment / EPC
As our Sales Engineer, you will:
·Identify and develop new business opportunities within EPC contractors and major projects and uncover new market opportunities with existing clients. Your 1st year target £1.5 million
·Engage early in the project life cycle to influence specifications and solution design
·Manage long sales cycles from initial contact through to project award - a typical sales cycle between 6 months and 2 years
·Work closely with internal technical teams to deliver compliant, commercially viable solutions
·Review customer specifications and drawings to confirm compliance with system design
·Support tendering and technical sales activity by collaborating with internal teams to define process requirements, review specifications and drawings, contribute to costings and commercial input, and coordinate the preparation of compliant, high-quality tender documentation and proposals
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Sales Engineer - Water Treatment
We're looking for a technical sales professional who is comfortable operating in a consultative, engineering-led environment. You'll be confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, able to navigate long and often complex sales cycles, and comfortable balancing technical detail with commercial outcomes. Application advice
5 AI-generated recommendations to maximise your chances.
⭐ Lead your CV personal statement with explicit water treatment and EPC experience — the advert names these as the two core requirements in the opening line.
📊 Quantify pipeline and revenue wins: e.g. "Built EPC pipeline of £2.1M within 10 months, securing 3 project awards in water treatment sector" to directly mirror the £1.5M Year 1 target.
🎯 Highlight early-stage specification engagement experience — the advert specifically values influencing specs before tender, so cite examples where you shaped a project at design stage.
🌐 Demonstrate UK-wide and cross-border (Ireland) coverage in your work history — note any roles where you managed a national or multi-region territory independently from a home base.
🤝 Showcase cross-functional collaboration with internal engineering teams on tender documentation, as the advert lists this as a key responsibility — name the teams and outputs (e.g. compliant tender packs, costings reviews).

Dear Hiring Manager,
Wallace Hind Selection's Technical Sales Manager role in water treatment and EPC is precisely the kind of consultative, engineering-led challenge I have been targeting. Having built pipelines within EPC contractor networks and engaged at specification stage across multi-year sales cycles, I understand both the technical rigour and commercial discipline this position demands.
My background in technical sales within water treatment and process engineering has equipped me to review client specifications and drawings, contribute to tender costings, and coordinate compliant proposals alongside internal engineering teams. I have consistently converted early-stage EPC relationships into project awards, managing cycles from initial contact through to contract award — including projects spanning 18 months from first engagement to sign-off.
