1Question

Tell me about a time you coached someone through a difficult learning challenge

A new care assistant was struggling with medication administration procedures after 3 weeks of training. I identified she was a visual learner through observation and adapted my approach. I created step-by-step visual guides and arranged shadowing with an experienced colleague for 5 additional shifts. I provided weekly one-to-one coaching sessions focusing on confidence building. After 4 weeks of targeted support, she successfully passed her medication competency assessment with 94% accuracy and became one of our most reliable medication administrators, later mentoring 3 new starters herself.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to adapt your training approach for different learning styles

I was delivering manual handling training to a mixed group of 12 care staff with varying experience levels and learning preferences. I noticed 4 staff members were struggling with the theoretical component while others needed more hands-on practice. I restructured the session into 3 stations: visual demonstrations, practical scenarios, and written assessments. I rotated groups every 20 minutes and provided individual coaching at each station. This approach resulted in 100% pass rates compared to 75% in previous sessions, and feedback scores improved from 3.2 to 4.6 out of 5.
