1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to provide exceptional customer care to a difficult patient

An 82-year-old patient was frustrated with her new hearing aids, claiming they were too loud and uncomfortable. I scheduled a follow-up home visit within 48 hours to reassess her needs. During the visit, I discovered the aids were incorrectly fitted and the volume settings were too high for her mild hearing loss. I adjusted the programming, provided new ear moulds, and spent 45 minutes teaching her proper insertion techniques. The patient's satisfaction improved from 2/10 to 9/10, and she referred 3 neighbours to our service within 2 months.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to work as part of a team to achieve a common goal

Our clinic faced a 3-week backlog of NHS hearing aid fittings affecting 120 patients. I collaborated with 4 colleagues to implement a streamlined appointment system, taking on 15 additional home visits weekly. We divided patients by postcode areas and shared resources including portable audiometry equipment. Through coordinated scheduling and peer support, we cleared the backlog in 10 days and reduced average waiting times from 21 to 7 days, improving patient satisfaction scores by 28%.
