A secondary school in the Chichester area is seeking to appoint a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to support learning across the curriculum. The successful candidate will have a good general education, with strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, enabling them to effectively supervise lessons and support students in their learning. Experience working with young people, including those with additional needs such as autism, is desirable, along with a willingness to develop further skills in this area.
The role involves supervising classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with pre-set work. You will help maintain a calm, positive, and inclusive learning environment, manage behaviour in line with school policies, and provide appropriate support to students with sensory, communication, or anxiety-related needs where required. Students may access lessons across the wider school site, so flexibility and adaptability are essential.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, patient, and committed, with a genuine interest in supporting young people’s education and development. A positive attitude, resilience, and a good sense of humour are highly valued. Full induction, training, and ongoing professional development will be provided.
The school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff to share this commitment.
