1Question

Tell me about a time you had to manage a challenging situation with young people

During a youth club session, 3 teenagers became disruptive and started arguing loudly, disrupting the other 15 participants. I immediately separated them calmly and spoke to each individually to understand the conflict. I discovered it was a misunderstanding about equipment sharing. I facilitated a brief discussion between them, established clear ground rules for future sessions, and redirected their energy into a collaborative team activity. The session continued smoothly, and the same group later became regular attendees who helped mentor newer members.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to adapt quickly to a new environment or unexpected circumstances

I was asked to cover a science lesson at short notice when the regular teacher fell ill. I had no science background but found detailed lesson plans and worksheets prepared. Within 10 minutes, I familiarised myself with the material on photosynthesis and adapted my approach to focus on supervising practical activities rather than teaching concepts. I encouraged peer learning, monitored safety procedures, and ensured all 26 students completed their experiments successfully. The teacher later praised how well the class had progressed through the planned activities.
