1Question

Tell me about a time you showed compassion to someone in your care

An elderly resident with dementia became distressed during personal care, repeatedly asking for her mother. Rather than correcting her, I acknowledged her feelings and gently redirected the conversation to happy memories of her family. I spent an extra 15 minutes with her, looking through photo albums and sharing stories. This approach calmed her completely, and she began to trust me with her daily care routine. The family later thanked me for treating their mother with such dignity and understanding.
2Question

Describe a challenging situation with a resident and how you handled it

A resident with mobility issues was refusing to use his walking frame, creating safety risks. I discovered he felt embarrassed about his dependence. I arranged for him to mentor a newer resident who was struggling with similar equipment, giving him a sense of purpose. I also personalised his frame with photos of his grandchildren. Within 2 weeks, he was using it confidently and had become a positive influence on other residents facing mobility challenges.
