Application advice
5 AI-generated recommendations to maximise your chances.
⭐ Lead your CV with a Personal Statement that explicitly names 'Used Car Sales Controller' and references FCA compliance experience, as the advert lists compliance as a core responsibility.
📊 Quantify your sales achievements: e.g. 'Increased finance penetration from 42% to 67% across a 12-car-per-month used car operation, contributing £18k additional monthly profit.'
🎯 Dedicate a bullet point to KPI management — the advert specifically calls out conversion rates and team performance monitoring, so cite the metrics you tracked and improved.
🏆 Highlight any Business Manager or Sales Controller title held within a franchised dealership, as the advert treats this as a direct match and prioritises franchised experience.
🤝 Include a brief section on coaching and team leadership outcomes (e.g. 'Mentored 4 sales executives, reducing average deal-to-close time by 2 days'), as motivating the sales team is listed as the first core responsibility.

Dear Hiring Manager,
The Used Car Sales Controller position at The Solution Auto's Basingstoke dealership is precisely the step I have been working towards. With a solid background in FCA-compliant deal management and finance penetration, I understand what it takes to drive both volume and profitability in a franchised environment — two priorities your advert places front and centre.
My background in franchised motor retail has seen me support and coach sales teams to consistently hit monthly targets, monitor conversion rates across the full used car pipeline, and manage stock pricing to maintain healthy margin. I have worked closely with Business Managers to structure deals that maximise F&I product attachment while fully adhering to Consumer Duty obligations, achieving finance penetration rates above 60% across a 15-unit-per-month used car operation.
