1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to manage multiple stakeholders with conflicting priorities

During a £1.8M healthcare facility project, the client wanted accelerated HVAC commissioning while the consultant insisted on extended testing protocols. I organised a joint meeting with all parties, presenting a phased commissioning approach that satisfied the client's 3-week deadline while maintaining the consultant's quality standards. I created a detailed timeline showing how we could run parallel testing on different floors, reducing overall commissioning time by 40% while meeting all technical requirements. This approach was adopted as the standard for future healthcare projects, improving stakeholder satisfaction scores to 96%.
2Question

Describe a situation where a mechanical project was falling behind schedule - how did you recover it?

A commercial office HVAC installation fell 4 weeks behind due to delayed equipment delivery. I immediately assessed the critical path and identified that ductwork installation could proceed independently. I negotiated with 2 additional subcontractors to work parallel shifts, extending daily working hours from 8 to 12 hours. I also coordinated with the main contractor to prioritise mechanical areas for access. Through these measures and daily progress reviews, we recovered 3.5 weeks of the delay, completing the project only 3 days late with zero budget overrun and maintaining all quality standards.
