1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to work as part of a team to complete a challenging task

During a tight deadline on a commercial fit-out project, our team of 8 labourers had to move 150 tonnes of materials to the third floor in just 2 days. I coordinated with the crane operator and organised the ground team into pairs for efficient loading. We established a rotation system to prevent fatigue and maintained constant communication via radio. By working systematically and supporting each other, we completed the task 6 hours ahead of schedule, allowing the trades to begin work early and keeping the project on track.
2Question

How do you maintain motivation during repetitive or physically demanding work?

On a recent housing development, I was tasked with moving materials for 3 weeks straight in challenging weather conditions. I maintained motivation by setting small daily targets, such as completing 25 material loads before lunch break. I also focused on the bigger picture - knowing that my work was essential for the electricians and plumbers to progress. I took proper breaks, stayed hydrated, and celebrated small wins with my team. This approach helped me maintain consistent performance and even earned recognition from the site manager for reliability.
