1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to work as part of a team on a construction site

On a residential development project, I worked with a 6-person team including bricklayers and electricians. When the materials delivery arrived 3 hours late, threatening to delay the concrete pour scheduled for the next morning, I coordinated with 2 other labourers to unload 4 pallets of bricks and 15 bags of cement in under 90 minutes. I organised the materials by trade requirements and communicated location updates to each tradesperson. This teamwork ensured the concrete pour proceeded on schedule, keeping the project timeline intact and demonstrating how effective collaboration maintains productivity under pressure.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to maintain safety standards under pressure

During a tight deadline on a commercial fit-out, the site manager requested faster material movement to catch up on lost time. Despite the pressure, I noticed the temporary walkway had loose boards that could cause trips. I immediately cordoned off the area with barrier tape and informed the site manager, suggesting an alternative route that added 5 minutes but eliminated the hazard. I then secured the walkway properly before resuming work. This decision prevented potential injuries to the 12-person crew and maintained our zero-accident record, proving that safety standards cannot be compromised regardless of time pressures.
