1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded a sales target. What was your approach?

In my previous role, I was tasked with achieving £180k quarterly sales but the team was tracking 12% behind target with 6 weeks remaining. I analysed our customer database and identified 25 dormant accounts who hadn't purchased in 8 months. I developed a targeted reactivation campaign, making personal visits to understand their current needs and offering tailored product solutions. I also implemented weekly progress reviews with my manager to track conversion rates. Through this focused approach, I reactivated 18 accounts and generated £68k in additional sales, finishing the quarter at £205k - 14% above target. This systematic approach to relationship building and data analysis became my standard method for consistently exceeding targets.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build a relationship with a difficult customer

I inherited a trade customer account worth £45k annually who was threatening to switch suppliers due to previous service issues. The customer was frustrated with delayed deliveries and felt undervalued. I scheduled an immediate face-to-face meeting to understand their specific concerns and business needs. I discovered they required weekly delivery slots for their project schedules, which wasn't being accommodated. I worked with our logistics team to establish dedicated Tuesday delivery windows and implemented monthly account reviews to proactively address any issues. Within 3 months, their satisfaction scores improved from 3/10 to 9/10, and they increased their annual spend to £62k while referring 4 new trade customers to us.
