1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded a sales target

Last year, my quarterly target was £45,000 in new business, but I identified an opportunity with local trade customers who needed kitchen design support. I developed relationships with 12 key contractors by offering free design consultations and demonstrating product benefits. I scheduled regular follow-ups and provided detailed quotes within 24 hours. By the end of the quarter, I had secured £58,000 in contracts, exceeding my target by 29%. This success came from understanding customer needs and building trust through consistent service delivery.
2Question

Describe how you build relationships with new customers

When approaching new trade customers, I focus on understanding their specific business challenges first. For example, I met a local builder who was struggling with kitchen installation timelines. I arranged a site visit to assess his current process and identified that better product knowledge could reduce his installation time by 2 hours per kitchen. I provided training on our product range and established a direct communication line for urgent queries. Within 3 months, he became one of our top 5 customers, placing orders worth £15,000 monthly. The key was listening first, then providing genuine value.
