1Question

Tell me about a time you went the extra mile for a patient

An elderly patient in rural Lincolnshire needed urgent prescription updates but couldn't travel to our practice due to mobility issues. Rather than scheduling a standard appointment weeks later, I arranged an emergency home visit within 48 hours. I discovered she had developed cataracts that were significantly impacting her daily activities. I coordinated directly with her GP for specialist referral and provided temporary prescription adjustments. The patient was able to maintain her independence for 3 additional months while awaiting surgery, and her family expressed gratitude for the personalised care that went beyond a routine eye test.
2Question

How do you manage your time when covering multiple locations in one day?

During a particularly busy period, I had 8 home visits scheduled across 4 different towns in one day. I started by mapping the most efficient route using GPS software, grouping appointments by geographical proximity rather than chronological booking order. I contacted each patient the evening before to confirm appointments and estimated arrival times, building in 15-minute buffers between visits. I also prepared all equipment and paperwork the night before, ensuring each visit could be completed efficiently. This approach allowed me to complete all appointments on time while maintaining quality care, with patients appreciating the reliable communication about timing.
