1Question

Tell me about a time you had to approach strangers in a professional setting

While working as a charity fundraiser, I needed to approach 80 people daily on busy high streets to discuss monthly donations. Initially, I felt nervous about interrupting people's journeys, but I developed a friendly opening technique that acknowledged their time constraints. I would smile, make eye contact, and start with 'Excuse me, could I have just 30 seconds to tell you about our local children's charity?' This approach helped me achieve a 15% engagement rate, significantly above the team average of 8%. By the end of my 6-month contract, I had successfully signed up 120 new monthly donors, generating £2,400 in recurring monthly income for the charity.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to work independently with minimal supervision

As a delivery driver covering rural areas, I managed a 40-mile route with 25 daily stops across 8 villages with no direct supervision for 9-hour shifts. When GPS systems failed in remote locations, I had to navigate using local knowledge and paper maps while maintaining delivery schedules. I developed my own route optimisation system, reducing average delivery time from 6 to 4.5 hours per day. This efficiency improvement allowed me to complete additional evening deliveries, increasing my weekly earnings by £180. My manager only discovered my system improvements during a quarterly review, praising my initiative and promoting my methods to other drivers.
