1Question

Describe a time when you had to deliver in challenging weather conditions

During a severe winter storm last February, I had 22 deliveries scheduled across Kent when snow began falling heavily at 6am. I adjusted my route to prioritise the most remote locations first, knowing they'd become inaccessible later. I drove at reduced speeds, increased following distances, and used my hazard lights appropriately. Despite the conditions, I completed 20 of 22 deliveries by taking extra care with manual handling on icy surfaces. The two remaining deliveries were safely rescheduled for the next day. My depot manager praised my decision-making, and all customers appreciated the communication about delays.
2Question

How do you handle the physical demands of a job that requires heavy lifting all day?

I maintain my physical fitness through regular exercise and proper lifting techniques learned during my manual handling training. On a typical day handling 180 caged deliveries, I pace myself by taking the full 30-minute break and staying hydrated. I always lift with my legs, not my back, and use mechanical aids like pallet trucks when available. I've worked physically demanding roles for 4 years without injury by listening to my body and following safety protocols. I also ensure I get adequate rest between shifts to maintain energy levels throughout 45-hour working weeks.
