1Question

Tell me about a time you had to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines

I was managing 4 manufacturing projects simultaneously when 2 clients moved their deadlines forward by 3 weeks. I immediately assessed resource availability and identified that Project A could be fast-tracked by bringing in 2 additional installation technicians, while Project B required renegotiating the material delivery schedule with 3 suppliers. I created a revised master schedule showing all dependencies and held daily stand-ups with my 5-person project team. By reallocating resources and implementing weekend installation slots, we delivered both projects on the new deadlines while maintaining the original schedules for the other 2 projects, achieving 100% client satisfaction.
2Question

Give an example of how you handled a project that was falling behind schedule

A £800k manufacturing project was 2 weeks behind due to delayed material deliveries from our primary supplier. I immediately contacted 3 alternative suppliers and secured materials within 5 days at 15% higher cost. To recover time, I negotiated with the client to implement parallel installation phases rather than sequential, allowing my 8-person installation team to work on multiple areas simultaneously. I also arranged extended working hours with overtime approval. These actions brought the project back on schedule within 10 days, delivering on time with only £12k additional costs, which the client accepted given the successful recovery.
