1Question

Tell me about a time you had to manage a reputational crisis for your organisation

When our council faced criticism over a £2.8M budget allocation error that made regional headlines, I immediately implemented crisis communications protocol. I coordinated with legal and finance teams to gather accurate information, then drafted a transparent statement acknowledging the error while outlining corrective measures. I proactively reached out to 8 key journalists, providing exclusive interviews with the council leader to demonstrate accountability. Within 72 hours, I secured 6 follow-up articles focusing on our transparency and swift action rather than the initial error. Post-crisis polling showed 67% of residents appreciated our honest approach, maintaining public trust during a challenging period.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to work to tight deadlines with conflicting priorities

During local election period, I simultaneously managed breaking news about school closures requiring immediate response while coordinating pre-planned campaign launch for new housing development. With 3 hours until news deadline and stakeholder event starting at 6pm, I prioritised by impact and audience. I drafted emergency school closure statement first, liaising with education director for approval within 90 minutes. Simultaneously, I briefed junior colleague to handle housing event setup while I managed media calls. I delivered both outputs on time: school statement reached 15,000 affected families via multiple channels, and housing launch proceeded with 85 attendees and positive local coverage the following day.
