Your new role
Southend City Council are looking to appoint a part-time Personal Advisor within a fixed-term capacity until April 2027. Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 3 days a week.
The new Personal Advisor will act as the focal point to make sure that a young person leaving care gets the right support as they move into adulthood.Work closely with young people to create a personalised and tailored pathway needs assessments and pathway plans.
- Act as an advocate for Care Leavers, promoting equality and opportunities. Supporting Care Leavers to access housing, education, employment and health to achieve positive outcomes.
- Manage a caseload of separated migrant young people and Care Leavers, maintaining accurate records and working collaboratively to deliver high quality support and services.
- Work closely as a team to improve services for Care Leavers.
- Act as a Corporate Parent and adhere to all duties set out in relevant legislation.
Please note that a driving licence is essential for this position, as there may be travel outside the Essex borders.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you must have previously worked within children services, essentially with young people, and have a qualification that is equivalent to NVQ 3+ within social work, social care, careers or education.
You need to have knowledge of legislation, safeguarding, policies and procedures as well as the ability to relate to young people in a purposeful but responsive manner and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the needs of young people. Along with this, you must have experience of working collaboratively with partnering agencies and have some knowledge and understanding of children and young people who are open to social care.
