1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded a sales target - what was your approach?

In my previous role, I was tasked with achieving £280k annual sales but the territory was underperforming at 78% of target. I analysed the customer database and identified 45 lapsed accounts who hadn't ordered in 8 months. I developed a re-engagement strategy involving personal visits and tailored product demonstrations. Over 6 months, I reactivated 32 of these accounts and secured £95k in new business. Combined with my existing customer growth, I finished the year at 115% of target with £322k total sales, earning the regional sales excellence award.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build trust with a difficult customer

A trade contractor was frustrated after receiving incorrect measurements from our previous designer, causing a £1,800 kitchen installation delay. He was threatening to switch suppliers permanently. I immediately visited his site, acknowledged our error, and personally re-measured the space within 24 hours. I expedited the correct units at no charge and provided a 15% discount on his next 3 orders. I also established weekly progress calls during the replacement installation. This approach rebuilt his confidence, and he became one of our top 10 customers, placing £28k in orders over the following 12 months.
