1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded sales targets - what strategies did you use?

In Q3 last year, I was tasked with achieving £180k in quarterly sales but was tracking at only 67% by month two. I analysed my customer data and identified that my conversion rate on initial meetings was strong at 78%, but I wasn't generating enough leads. I implemented a structured follow-up system, calling existing customers every 3 weeks about upcoming projects and asking for referrals. I also started attending local trade networking events twice monthly. This approach generated 23 new qualified leads in the final month. By quarter end, I achieved £197k in sales - 109% of target - and my referral rate increased to 34% of all new business.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build trust with a difficult customer

I inherited a trade customer who had experienced delivery delays on their previous £12k kitchen order and was threatening to switch suppliers. They were initially hostile and questioned every recommendation I made. I started by acknowledging their frustration and providing a detailed timeline for their current project with daily progress updates via text. When they mentioned concerns about product quality, I arranged a depot visit to show them the manufacturing process and quality checks. I also connected them directly with our logistics manager's mobile number for real-time delivery tracking. Over 6 weeks, this transparency rebuilt their confidence. They not only completed the £12k order but placed an additional £8,400 order the following month and referred 2 new customers.
