Application advice

5 AI-generated recommendations to maximise your chances.

1

STAR answer examples

Model answers using the Situation-Task-Action-Result framework. Adapt to your own experience.

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to manage multiple transport plans simultaneously under significant time pressure.

Situation: During a peak pre-Christmas period at my previous logistics employer, I was responsible for coordinating 45 active international road freight movements in a single week, 30% above our normal volume. Task: I needed to ensure all shipments were planned, documented and communicated to customers without any service failures. Action: I prioritised movements by delivery deadline, batched haulier communications into scheduled call windows, and used our TMS dashboard to flag any at-risk shipments each morning. I also created a shared tracking sheet for the internal team to reduce duplicate queries. Result: All 45 shipments were delivered within agreed windows, and we received zero customer escalations that week despite the volume spike.
2Question

Describe a situation where a shipment was delayed and explain how you communicated this to the customer and resolved the issue.

Situation: A refrigerated road freight consignment from Rotterdam was held at the border for 4 hours due to a documentation discrepancy, putting a time-sensitive delivery at risk. Task: I needed to resolve the hold, reroute if necessary, and keep the customer informed without causing alarm. Action: I contacted the haulier immediately to clarify the documentation issue, liaised with our compliance contact to provide the corrected paperwork within 40 minutes, and called the customer proactively to explain the delay and provide a revised ETA. I also arranged priority unloading at the destination warehouse. Result: The shipment arrived 2 hours late rather than the projected 6-hour delay, and the customer acknowledged the communication positively in a follow-up email.
