Model answers using the Situation-Task-Action-Result framework. Adapt to your own experience.

1Question

Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer during a delivery

Situation: I arrived at a convenience store to find the owner frustrated about a previous late delivery that had caused stock shortages. Task: I needed to complete my current delivery while addressing their concerns and rebuilding trust. Action: I apologised sincerely, explained our new route planning system, and offered to prioritise their future deliveries. I also provided my direct contact number for any urgent issues. Result: The customer appreciated the personal attention, and over the following 6 months, their satisfaction scores improved to 98%. They even recommended our service to 3 other local retailers.
2Question

How do you handle working weekends and varied shift patterns?

Situation: In my previous role, I worked rotating shifts including weekends to meet customer demand. Task: I needed to maintain work-life balance while ensuring reliable service delivery. Action: I created a personal scheduling system, planned family activities around my rota, and maintained open communication with my team about shift preferences. I also used quieter weekend periods to build stronger relationships with customers. Result: I achieved 100% attendance over 18 months and received positive feedback from management for my reliability and flexibility.
