Application advice

6 AI-generated recommendations to maximise your chances.

1

⭐ Highlight your case management systems experience prominently—the advert lists this as a key requirement and many candidates lack hands-on proficiency.

📊 Quantify your administrative output: "Managed diaries for 3 fee earners, coordinating 40+ client meetings monthly while maintaining 100% accuracy on Land Registry deadlines."

3

🎯 Name the specific case management software you've used (e.g. "Lexis Nexis Practice Management", "Tikit", "Leap")—this signals immediate productivity and reduces training time.

4

🌐 Emphasise your compliance and confidentiality track record: "Processed 200+ ID and conflict checks annually with zero compliance breaches" shows you understand the firm's regulatory obligations.

5

🤝 Reference your fee earner support experience: "Supported 2 busy commercial property fee earners, freeing 6+ hours weekly for billable work through proactive diary and file management."

6

📋 Tailor your CV to mirror the role's core tasks—property searches, contract packs, Land Registry applications—rather than generic legal admin duties.

1Question

Tell us about a time you had to manage multiple fee earners' diaries and priorities simultaneously. How did you handle conflicting demands?

I supported 3 commercial property fee earners with overlapping client meetings and court deadlines. When two fee earners needed the same meeting room on the same afternoon, I reviewed their case files, identified which meeting was time-critical (a pre-completion search deadline), and rescheduled the second meeting to the following morning with the client's agreement. I then created a shared calendar system colour-coded by fee earner and matter priority, which reduced diary conflicts by 90% over the next quarter. This freed up approximately 3 hours per week that the fee earners previously spent resolving scheduling issues, allowing them to focus on billable work.
2Question

Describe a situation where you discovered a potential compliance issue or error in a file. How did you do?

While reviewing a property file before Land Registry submission, I noticed that the ID check documentation was dated 18 months prior—beyond our firm's 12-month refresh policy. I immediately flagged this to the supervising fee earner and suggested we re-run the ID checks before submission to avoid rejection and regulatory exposure. The fee earner approved the action, and I processed updated ID checks within 2 days, ensuring the Land Registry application was submitted on schedule without compliance risk. I then updated our file checklist template to include an automated ID refresh reminder at the 11-month mark, which prevented 4 similar issues in the following 6 months.
