STAR answer examples

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to deliver equipment to a tight deadline

During a major live television broadcast, I received an urgent call to deliver replacement audio equipment to a studio in Central London within 90 minutes. The situation was critical as the show was due to go live at 8pm. I immediately checked the traffic conditions and planned an alternative route avoiding the usual congestion hotspots. I secured the equipment properly, contacted the studio to confirm the exact delivery point, and managed to arrive 15 minutes early. The broadcast team was able to set up the equipment in time, and the show went live without any technical issues. This experience reinforced the importance of quick thinking and local area knowledge in emergency situations.
2Question

How do you handle driving in heavy London traffic?

When navigating heavy London traffic with delicate broadcast equipment, I focus on planning and patience. I always check traffic reports before departure and have backup routes mapped out for each regular delivery location. During a particularly challenging delivery to a studio near Oxford Street during rush hour, I maintained safe following distances and smooth acceleration to protect the £30,000 mixing desk in the back. I communicated regularly with the client about realistic arrival times rather than rushing. By staying calm and focused, I completed the 3-hour journey without any equipment damage and maintained my professional reputation with the client.
