1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to build a relationship with a difficult customer

A regular customer at a busy restaurant was consistently frustrated with late deliveries affecting their lunch service. I took the initiative to visit during their quieter morning period to understand their specific timing needs. I discovered they needed deliveries by 10:30am rather than our usual 11:15am slot. I worked with dispatch to adjust my route, prioritising their delivery second instead of fifth. Over 3 months, this customer went from filing weekly complaints to praising our service, and they increased their weekly order value by £340.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to prioritise safety over speed during deliveries

During a particularly busy Friday, I was running 45 minutes behind schedule with 8 deliveries remaining. At one customer site, I noticed the loading bay had a large oil spill that hadn't been cleaned up. Rather than rushing through and risking a slip with my delivery trolley, I took 15 minutes to locate the site manager and ensure the area was made safe. Although this put me further behind, I completed all deliveries without incident. My supervisor commended my decision when the customer later thanked us for preventing a potential accident.
