1Question

Tell me about a time you had to work under pressure to meet tight dispatch deadlines

During peak season at my previous warehouse, we had 8 urgent dispatch orders that needed completing before the 4pm collection deadline, but our main counterbalance forklift broke down at 2pm. I quickly switched to the backup Bendi forklift and reorganised the picking sequence to maximise efficiency in the narrower aisles. I coordinated with 2 warehouse colleagues to pre-stage pallets whilst I focused on the high-level racking retrievals. We completed all 8 orders by 3:45pm, ensuring no customer delays and maintaining our 98% on-time dispatch record.
2Question

Describe a situation where you identified a safety issue in the warehouse

During my morning forklift inspection, I noticed hydraulic fluid pooling beneath one of the counterbalance units. Rather than assuming it was minor, I immediately tagged the equipment as out of service and reported it to my supervisor. I arranged for 3 colleagues to use alternative forklifts whilst maintenance investigated. The issue turned out to be a cracked hydraulic line that could have caused sudden load failure. My early identification prevented potential injury to the 12-person day shift team and avoided damage to £15,000 worth of goods that were scheduled for high-level storage that morning.
