1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to work independently under pressure

During a particularly busy December period, our usual delivery driver called in sick, leaving me to cover both warehouse duties and a full multidrop route of 18 deliveries across Cumbria. I reorganised the warehouse tasks to complete stock movements by 10am, then planned an efficient delivery route hitting Workington, Cockermouth, and Keswick. By prioritising urgent deliveries and communicating proactively with customers about timing, I completed all deliveries by 4:30pm while maintaining safety standards. The supervisor praised my initiative, and we implemented my route planning approach as standard practice.
2Question

Describe a situation where you identified a safety hazard and how you handled it

While operating the Reach FLT in a busy warehouse, I noticed oil pooling near the main loading bay where other operators frequently worked. I immediately cordoned off the area with safety cones and reported it to the supervisor. I then helped coordinate alternative routes for other FLT operators while maintenance cleaned the spill. This 20-minute delay prevented potential accidents involving 4 other operators. The incident reinforced the importance of constant vigilance, and management implemented daily floor inspections as a result of my proactive approach.
