1Question

Tell me about a time you had to learn a new technical skill quickly

When our facility upgraded to new electrical control systems, I had 3 weeks to become proficient before the old system was decommissioned. I dedicated 2 hours daily to studying technical manuals and arranged shadowing sessions with experienced technicians. I also practiced on the training simulator during lunch breaks. By week 2, I was troubleshooting basic faults independently. When the switchover happened, I successfully maintained 100% system uptime and even identified a configuration error that could have caused downtime. This experience taught me the importance of structured learning and hands-on practice when mastering new technology.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to manage your time effectively across multiple locations

During a particularly busy maintenance period, I was responsible for servicing 12 sites across a 50-mile radius within 4 days. I analysed the geographical spread and grouped sites by proximity, creating an efficient route that minimised travel time. I also contacted each site manager beforehand to confirm access and prepare any required materials. By starting early and working systematically, I completed all 12 sites in 3.5 days, allowing time for one urgent callout. This approach saved 6 hours of travel time and impressed management, leading to my promotion to senior technician 2 months later.
