1Question

Tell me about a time you had to work independently on a challenging project

I was assigned to commission a new pumping system at a 15-storey commercial building where the previous engineer had left incomplete documentation. I systematically tested each component, created detailed schematics, and identified 3 wiring errors that were causing system failures. Over 4 days working independently, I completed the full commissioning process and delivered comprehensive handover documentation to the client. The system has operated without issues for 8 months, and the client specifically requested me for their next project.
2Question

Describe a situation where you provided excellent customer service during a repair

A hotel's cooling system failed during peak summer season, affecting 120 guest rooms. I arrived within 2 hours and discovered a faulty control valve that required overnight ordering. I implemented a temporary bypass solution using portable equipment, maintaining 80% cooling capacity while sourcing the replacement part. I worked through the night to install the new valve and restore full system operation by 6am checkout time. The hotel manager praised my proactive communication and problem-solving, leading to a 3-year maintenance contract worth £18,000.
