1Question

Tell me about a time you had to adapt quickly to a new classroom environment

When I started a supply role at Greenfield Primary, I arrived to find the regular TA was absent and the teacher needed immediate support for a Year 3 class with 4 SEND pupils. I quickly reviewed the pupils' individual education plans, introduced myself to each child, and established clear behaviour expectations. Within 30 minutes, I had integrated into the classroom routine, supporting a maths lesson where I helped 6 pupils complete their work successfully. The teacher praised my quick adaptation and requested me for future cover.
2Question

Describe a situation where you helped a struggling pupil make progress

I worked with Jake, a Year 5 pupil with dyslexia who was 18 months behind in reading. I created a structured phonics programme using multi-sensory techniques, working with him for 20 minutes daily over 8 weeks. I used coloured overlays, finger tracing, and audio support to reinforce learning. By half-term, Jake's reading age had improved by 6 months, and his confidence increased dramatically. His class teacher noted his improved participation in group reading activities.
