1Question

Tell me about a time you helped a customer make a significant purchase decision

A customer visited our electronics store looking for a £1,200 laptop but seemed overwhelmed by the options. I spent 20 minutes understanding their specific needs - graphic design work and portability requirements. Rather than pushing the most expensive model, I demonstrated three different laptops, explaining how each met their criteria. I showed them real-world examples of design software performance and battery life comparisons. The customer appreciated my honest approach and purchased the mid-range model that perfectly suited their needs, plus accessories worth £300. They returned two weeks later with a referral, praising how well the laptop worked for their business.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to quickly build rapport with someone you'd never met

During a busy Saturday shift, an elderly gentleman entered looking frustrated after visiting two other stores. I immediately noticed his walking stick and offered him a chair while we talked. I asked open questions about what he was looking for and discovered he felt previous salespeople had been pushy and dismissive. I took time to explain each product clearly, avoided jargon, and let him handle items at his own pace. Within 15 minutes, he was sharing stories about his grandchildren and asking my advice on the best options. He made a £800 purchase and specifically requested to work with me for future visits, saying I was the first person who truly listened to his needs.
