STAR answer examples

Model answers using the Situation-Task-Action-Result framework. Adapt to your own experience.

1Question

Tell me about a time you provided excellent customer service during a delivery

When delivering to a care home, I noticed their usual order of 12 cases of juice hadn't arrived due to a warehouse error. I immediately contacted my manager and arranged for the missing items to be picked and delivered within 2 hours. I also helped the kitchen staff reorganise their storage area to accommodate the delayed delivery. The care home manager praised our responsiveness, and we maintained their trust as a key customer worth £2,400 monthly revenue.
2Question

How do you prioritise tasks when you have both picking and delivery duties?

During a particularly busy period, I had 85 items to pick for morning deliveries plus 6 customer stops to complete by 4pm. I started with time-sensitive items like chilled goods first, then organised my picking route to match my delivery sequence. This meant I could load the van efficiently without repacking. I completed all picking by 10am and finished deliveries 30 minutes early, maintaining 100% accuracy across both functions.
