Application advice

5 AI-generated recommendations to maximise your chances.

1

⭐ Lead your CV with a Personal Statement that explicitly names 'Operational Excellence' and 'continuous improvement' — the advert uses these phrases in every section, signalling they are primary ATS filters.

2

📊 Quantify warehouse or logistics achievements: e.g. 'Reduced picking errors by 22% across a 150,000 sq ft distribution centre by redesigning SOPs', to directly mirror the KPI-focus of the role.

3

🎯 Dedicate a skills section to compliance credentials — call out CAA and HMRC regulatory knowledge explicitly, as these are named requirements specific to the Heathrow logistics context.

4

📋 Include a bullet on SOP authorship: state the number of SOPs written or reviewed and the operational scope they covered, as SOP development is listed as a key duty.

5

🤝 Demonstrate cross-functional stakeholder management by naming the seniority levels you have engaged (e.g. 'Presented monthly KPI dashboards to a 6-person senior leadership team'), reflecting the advert's emphasis on working closely with leadership.

Dear Hiring Manager,

Right Now Group's Operational Excellence Manager position at Heathrow aligns directly with the work I have been doing in logistics and warehouse operations — specifically around SOP development, KPI-driven performance improvement and CAA and HMRC compliance governance. The combination of continuous improvement leadership and regulatory accountability in an airfreight-adjacent environment is precisely where I add the most value.

My background in operations management includes redesigning end-to-end warehouse processes that reduced throughput cycle times by 18% across a 12-month period, as well as leading workforce planning cycles for a team of 45 operatives. I have conducted internal operational audits, produced governance reports for senior leadership, and maintained compliance frameworks aligned to HMRC customs requirements — experience that maps closely to the key duties outlined in your advert.

1Question

Tell me about a time you identified a significant operational bottleneck and led the initiative to resolve it — what was the outcome?

Situation: At a third-party logistics provider handling 6,000 parcels per day, our end-of-shift dispatch rate was consistently falling to 79%, causing carrier penalties of roughly £8,000 per month. Task: As Operations Excellence lead, I was asked to diagnose the root cause and present a remediation plan within four weeks. Action: I mapped the entire outbound flow using a value-stream analysis, interviewed 12 operatives and supervisors, and identified that manual label verification was creating a 40-minute queue at the final scan point. I redesigned the verification step using a parallel scanning station and updated the SOP accordingly. Result: Dispatch rates improved to 94% within six weeks, eliminating the carrier penalties entirely and saving the business £96,000 over the following year.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to influence a senior leadership team to adopt a process change they were initially resistant to.

Situation: I proposed replacing a paper-based inbound goods-received process with a digital scan-and-confirm system at a warehousing company with 80 staff. The operations director was concerned about retraining costs and disruption during peak season. Task: I needed to secure sign-off within a six-week window to meet a Q3 go-live date. Action: I built a cost-benefit model showing a £42,000 annual saving from reduced data-entry errors, presented two pilot results from a 15-person team over three weeks, and proposed a phased rollout that avoided the peak November period. Result: The leadership team approved the project unanimously. The full rollout completed in 10 weeks, and inbound processing errors dropped by 31% in the first quarter post-implementation.
