How “jobs near me” works on SpeedCV
Every morning we aggregate vacancies from Reed, Adzuna and official UK feeds, then geocode each ad via postcodes.io so we know its exact location — right down to the postcode district. When you ask for jobs near you, we filter our pool to the area you've chosen, whether that's a town (Manchester, Bristol), a London borough (Shoreditch, Canary Wharf), a postcode district (M1, SW1, EH1) or a full 7-character postcode.
UK commuting patterns matter: a Reading-based developer might happily cover Slough, Maidenhead and Greater London — so we default the “near me” radius to roughly 20 miles (32 km), a standard daily commute in most of the country. In denser areas like inner London or central Edinburgh, 5 miles already covers hundreds of employers; in rural England or the Highlands, 50 miles might be necessary to get a meaningful shortlist. You control the radius from any search.

By default, we consider jobs within approximately 20 miles (32 km) of your selected location — a reasonable daily commute by car or public transport in most UK regions. You can widen the radius to 50+ miles if you’re open to longer commutes or hybrid roles, or narrow it to 5 miles for hyper-local searches in dense cities like London, Manchester or Edinburgh.
Can I find jobs near me without sharing my location?

How accurate is “jobs near me” compared to Indeed or LinkedIn?
We aggregate vacancies from Reed, Adzuna and official feeds so the pool is comparable in size to the big boards. Each listing includes the town, region and often a postcode, geocoded via postcodes.io — accuracy is typically within 100-500 metres for postcode-level ads and within city boundaries for location-only ads. Fully remote roles are tagged separately so they don’t clutter your local results.
Which UK cities have the most jobs near me?
London dominates with roughly 35-40% of all UK online vacancies at any time, followed by Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Outside the top six, Bristol (tech & aerospace), Liverpool (logistics & creative), Sheffield (advanced manufacturing) and Newcastle (tech & public sector) each list 2-5k active roles on any given day. Not always. Some listings tagged “remote” still specify a preferred region (e.g. “remote UK — Manchester office optional” or “hybrid 1 day/week in London”). We keep the REMOTE tag visible on every card so you can decide. If you want strictly location-independent roles, filter by workMode=REMOTE from any search — you’ll find ~8-12k fully remote UK roles listed at any time.
