1Question

Why are you looking to transition from industry into education and training?

After 8 years in motorsport, I reached a point where the constant pressure and weekend racing schedule was affecting my work-life balance. However, I didn't want to leave the industry entirely. When I mentored 2 apprentices at our race team, I discovered I genuinely enjoyed sharing technical knowledge and seeing their skills develop. The situation arose when our lead technician left mid-season, and I had to train his replacement quickly. I developed a structured approach combining theory with hands-on practice, which helped the new technician become competent in 6 weeks rather than the usual 12. The result was not only maintaining our race performance but also discovering my passion for developing others. This experience showed me that education could offer the structured environment and meaningful impact I was seeking while keeping me connected to motorsport.
2Question

Describe a time when you had to share knowledge or mentor someone in a motorsport environment

During our busiest racing season, we hired a graduate engineer with theoretical knowledge but no practical experience. The situation required bringing them up to speed quickly as we had 3 races in 4 weeks. I created a structured learning plan covering our 12 most critical procedures, pairing theory sessions with hands-on practice during car preparation. I spent 2 hours daily for 3 weeks walking through everything from suspension setup to data analysis. My approach involved letting them make controlled mistakes and then explaining the consequences, which accelerated their learning. The result was remarkable — by race 3, they were independently handling telemetry analysis and had identified a setup issue that improved our lap times by 0.8 seconds. This experience confirmed my ability to transfer complex technical knowledge effectively.
