1Question

Tell me about a time you helped a student overcome a behavioural challenge

I worked with a 14-year-old student who frequently disrupted lessons due to anxiety about academic performance. I implemented a structured approach where we broke tasks into 5-minute segments with regular praise breaks. Over 8 weeks, I tracked his progress using a simple traffic light system. By week 6, his disruptive incidents decreased from 12 per week to just 2, and his confidence improved significantly. The result was that he successfully completed his first full lesson without interruption and began participating voluntarily in group discussions.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to adapt your approach for a student with special needs

I was supporting a student with autism who became overwhelmed by traditional worksheet activities. I noticed he responded well to visual cues, so I created a picture-based learning system using colour-coded cards for different subjects. I introduced this gradually over 3 weeks, starting with 10-minute sessions. The student's engagement increased dramatically - he went from completing 20% of tasks to 85% within a month. This approach was so successful that 3 other teachers adopted similar visual methods for their SEN students.
