1Question

Tell me about a time you exceeded a sales target - what strategies did you use?

Last year, I was tasked with achieving £180k in quarterly sales but managed £218k, exceeding the target by 21%. The situation arose when our main competitor launched an aggressive pricing campaign, threatening our market share. I took action by conducting detailed needs analysis with each of my 45 key accounts, identifying opportunities for upselling complementary products. I also implemented weekly check-ins rather than monthly, allowing me to respond quickly to changing requirements. The result was not only exceeding my target but also strengthening customer loyalty, with 89% of clients renewing their contracts for the following year.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build trust with a difficult customer

I inherited a challenging account where the customer had experienced poor service delivery, resulting in a 6-week project delay and damaged relationship. The customer was considering switching suppliers after 3 years of partnership. I arranged an immediate face-to-face meeting, acknowledged the previous issues without making excuses, and presented a detailed recovery plan with weekly progress updates. I personally oversaw the next project delivery, providing daily communication and completing it 2 days ahead of schedule. This approach rebuilt trust completely - the customer increased their annual spend from £28k to £41k and referred 4 new accounts to us within 6 months.
