1Question

Tell me about a time you had to draft a complex HR document under tight deadlines

When our company faced a tribunal claim, I had 48 hours to draft comprehensive employment contracts for 12 temporary staff to ensure compliance. I reviewed existing policies, consulted employment law guidance, and created standardised templates covering probationary periods, notice requirements, and disciplinary procedures. I worked late two evenings to complete all contracts, ensuring each included specific role requirements and company policies. The contracts were approved by our legal team without amendments, and we successfully demonstrated proper employment procedures during the tribunal, which was resolved in our favour within 3 weeks.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to handle a sensitive employee welfare issue

A team leader approached me about an employee showing signs of stress, including increased absences and declining performance. I arranged a confidential welfare meeting within 24 hours, creating a safe space for discussion. The employee revealed personal financial difficulties affecting their work. I researched our employee assistance programme options and arranged counselling support through our healthcare provider. I also worked with their manager to adjust deadlines temporarily and arranged flexible working hours for 6 weeks. The employee's performance improved significantly, and they thanked me 3 months later for the supportive approach, with no further absence issues.
