1Question

Tell me about a time you led a major supply chain transformation across multiple sites

When I joined my previous company, they were struggling with 89% on-time delivery across three manufacturing sites with inconsistent processes. I conducted a comprehensive audit revealing fragmented inventory systems and poor demand forecasting. I implemented a standardised ERP system across all sites, established weekly cross-site performance reviews, and trained 15 team leaders on Lean principles. Over 8 months, we achieved 98.2% on-time delivery, reduced inventory by £320k, and improved customer satisfaction scores from 7.2 to 9.1 out of 10.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to balance cost reduction with service level maintenance

Our third-party logistics costs were 18% above budget, but we couldn't compromise our 99% service level commitment to key customers. I analysed delivery patterns and identified 40% of shipments were sub-optimal routes. I renegotiated contracts with our 4 logistics partners, introducing performance-based pricing and consolidated 12 delivery routes into 8 optimised ones. This reduced logistics costs by £180k annually whilst actually improving our service level to 99.4%, demonstrating that efficiency improvements can deliver both cost and service benefits.
