1Question

Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer during a delivery

A regular café customer in Sheffield city centre was frustrated because their Friday morning bread delivery was 2 hours late, affecting their breakfast service. I acknowledged their concern immediately and explained there had been a vehicle breakdown earlier that morning. I offered to prioritise their most urgent items first and helped them reorganise their display quickly. I also provided my direct contact number for future delivery updates. The customer appreciated the transparency and extra effort - they actually increased their weekly order by £200 the following month and specifically requested me as their regular driver.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to work weekends or unsociable hours

During the Christmas period, our depot needed weekend coverage to handle increased demand from independent retailers stocking up for the holidays. I volunteered for Saturday and Sunday shifts for 6 consecutive weeks, starting at 5am to ensure all deliveries were completed before shops opened. This meant managing 35% more deliveries per day and coordinating with 8 additional temporary staff. My weekend work helped the depot achieve 99% delivery completion during the busiest trading period, and several customers commented on maintaining excellent service levels despite the increased volume.
