1Question

Tell me about a time you had to negotiate rates with a difficult supplier

When sourcing a venue for a 300-person technology conference, the preferred supplier initially quoted £8,500 for the main hall, which exceeded our client's £6,800 budget. I researched their competitor pricing and discovered similar venues were charging £6,200-6,500. I presented this market analysis to the supplier, highlighting our potential for 4 future bookings that year. I also offered to promote their venue through our client network. After two negotiation rounds, we agreed on £6,600 plus complimentary AV equipment worth £400. The client was delighted with both the cost saving and added value, and we secured 3 additional bookings with that supplier over the following 6 months.
2Question

Describe a situation where you managed multiple urgent client requests simultaneously

During a particularly busy week, I received 5 urgent venue sourcing requests within 2 days - including a last-minute 150-person awards evening in London and a 400-person conference in Manchester, both needed within 10 days. I immediately created a priority matrix based on event dates and client tier status. I allocated morning hours to the awards evening search and afternoons to the conference, while managing 3 smaller requests during lunch breaks. I used our CRM system to track all communications and set automated reminders. By working systematically and maintaining clear client communication, I delivered venue options for all 5 requests within 72 hours. 4 out of 5 clients booked their preferred venues, generating £18,500 in commission revenue.
