1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to lead a major infrastructure transformation

At my previous company, I was tasked with migrating our entire development infrastructure from on-premise servers to Azure cloud within 6 months. The situation was challenging as we had 20 legacy applications and a tight deadline. I developed a phased migration plan using Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform, starting with non-critical services. I implemented Azure DevOps pipelines for automated deployments and established monitoring with Application Insights. The result was a successful migration of all services 2 weeks ahead of schedule, reducing infrastructure costs by 35% and improving deployment frequency from weekly to daily releases.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to troubleshoot a critical deployment failure

During a major product release, our CI/CD pipeline failed at 2 AM, affecting 50,000 users. The containerised application wasn't starting in our AKS cluster due to a configuration issue. I immediately accessed the Azure portal and checked Application Insights logs, discovering a missing environment variable in our Kubernetes deployment. I quickly updated the deployment manifest through our GitOps workflow and redeployed within 15 minutes. To prevent recurrence, I implemented automated configuration validation in our pipeline and added comprehensive health checks. This reduced our mean time to recovery from 45 minutes to under 10 minutes for similar issues.
