1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to turn around underperforming commercial results

When I joined my previous company, the commercial team was 25% behind revenue targets with declining client satisfaction scores at 68%. I implemented a structured account review process, identifying that 40% of contracts were underpriced and client communication was inconsistent. I restructured the 12-person team into 3 specialised pods, introduced weekly client touchpoints, and renegotiated 8 key contracts with improved terms. Within 6 months, we exceeded targets by 15% and client satisfaction improved to 89%, generating an additional £2.8M in annual revenue.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to build a strategic client relationship from scratch

I was tasked with securing a major government department as a new client, worth potentially £5M annually. They had no prior relationship with our company and were loyal to a competitor. I spent 3 months researching their procurement challenges and attended 4 industry events where their team was present. I proposed a pilot project addressing their specific compliance concerns, demonstrating 30% cost savings through our innovative approach. This led to a full contract worth £4.2M over 3 years, and they became our largest public sector client, referring 3 additional departments to us.
