1Question

Tell me about a time when you had to motivate a team to exceed sales targets

Our retail team was 15% behind quarterly targets with 6 weeks remaining. I implemented daily team briefings highlighting individual contributions and introduced a weekly recognition system for top performers. I also arranged one-to-one coaching sessions with underperforming team members to identify barriers and provide additional support. By creating a more collaborative environment and celebrating small wins, team morale improved significantly. We not only met our quarterly target but exceeded it by 8%, generating an additional £85,000 in revenue. The team maintained this momentum into the following quarter.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to solve a complex problem under pressure

During a busy Saturday morning, our main supplier failed to deliver a key product line that 12 customers were expecting for weekend projects. With limited stock and frustrated trade customers, I immediately contacted three alternative suppliers to source emergency stock. I personally called each affected customer to explain the situation and offered delivery within 4 hours at no extra cost. I also arranged for our team to work overtime to ensure all orders were fulfilled. All 12 customers received their products by 2pm, and we retained their business. This experience taught me the importance of having backup suppliers and proactive customer communication.
