*Earnings estimates are based on location and completing package deliveries across an estimated length of time (referred to as a block), completed while riding an e-bike. Deliveries are scheduled so that they can be safely completed within the allocated block time, taking into account factors such as weather and road conditions. However, the actual time taken per delivery may vary (because it could, occasionally, take less or more time than expected) so the earnings per hour may vary. Should Amazon Flex introduce blocks eligible to be delivered using scooters or other alternative modes of transportation, different rates may apply.

STAR answer examples

Model answers using the Situation-Task-Action-Result framework. Adapt to your own experience.

1Question

Tell me about a time you had to manage your own schedule to meet a tight deadline.

Situation: I was working as a freelance food courier during a busy weekend period when three separate orders came in within 15 minutes of each other. Task: I needed to complete all three deliveries within their promised windows without a dispatcher to guide me. Action: I used Google Maps to plot the most efficient route, batching two nearby drops before heading to the third. I also communicated estimated arrival times proactively to each customer. Result: All three deliveries arrived within their windows, I received a 5-star rating from each customer, and I completed the full shift 20 minutes ahead of schedule, allowing me to accept one additional order.
2Question

Describe a situation where you had to adapt quickly to an unexpected problem while working independently.

Situation: Midway through a 4-hour delivery shift on my e-bike, I discovered my rear tyre had a slow puncture with 12 deliveries still outstanding. Task: I needed to complete as many drops as possible without compromising safety or missing the block end time. Action: I immediately flagged the issue, rerouted to prioritise the 5 closest addresses on foot where feasible, and arranged a tyre repair at a nearby shop during a natural gap between clusters. Result: I completed 10 of the 12 remaining deliveries within the block window, maintained my completion rate above 85%, and returned the bike to full service for the following day's shift.
