Application advice

5 AI-generated recommendations to maximise your chances.

1

⭐ Highlight your PQE level prominently at the top of your CV — the advert specifies 1-2 years' PQE as a core requirement, so make this immediately visible in your personal statement.

2

📊 Quantify your caseload: e.g. "Managed 60+ active RTA and accident at work files simultaneously, progressing cases from instruction to settlement within agreed deadlines."

3

🎯 Tailor your experience section to explicitly name RTA and accident at work claims, as these are the two claim types called out as essential — generic 'personal injury' references alone will not stand out.

4

📝 Showcase your drafting experience by listing specific document types: witness statements, schedules of loss, letters of claim, and court pleadings — the advert references drafting as a core responsibility.

5

🤝 Demonstrate your experience liaising with counsel, medical experts, and insurers in your bullet points, as the advert explicitly lists these stakeholders as key relationships for the role.

Letter preview — tailored to Adecco

Dear Hiring Manager,

Personal injury litigation — particularly complex RTA and accident at work claims — is where I have focused my practice since qualification, which is why the Solicitor role at your Glasgow firm immediately stood out. With 1-2 years' PQE and hands-on experience drafting legal documents, managing client communications, and progressing files against tight court deadlines, I am well placed to support your senior fee earners on high-value matters from day one.

My background in personal injury litigation includes handling a caseload of over 50 active files, liaising directly with counsel, medical experts, and insurers, and independently managing aspects of complex claims under supervision. I have developed a methodical approach to file progression that ensures deadlines are consistently met without compromising the quality of work delivered to clients.

1Question

Tell me about a time you managed a particularly complex or high-value claim — what challenges arose and how did you resolve them?

Situation: I was assisting on a disputed liability RTA claim valued at £180,000 where the defendant's insurer denied primary liability six weeks before the trial date. Task: I needed to rapidly gather additional evidence to strengthen our client's position without disrupting the trial timetable. Action: I instructed an accident reconstruction expert within 48 hours, coordinated a joint statement with opposing counsel, and drafted an updated witness statement incorporating the new technical findings. I also kept the client updated at each stage to manage expectations. Result: The insurer withdrew their denial of liability four days before trial and settled at £165,000, avoiding the cost and risk of a contested hearing. The senior partner cited the swift evidence-gathering as decisive.
2Question

Describe a situation where you were working under significant deadline pressure across multiple files — how did you prioritise and what was the outcome?

Situation: During a two-week period, I had three files simultaneously approaching critical court deadlines — a witness statement exchange, a schedule of loss submission, and a response to a Part 18 request. Task: I needed to deliver all three on time without compromising quality, while continuing to handle daily client queries across a 50-file caseload. Action: I mapped all three deadlines on a shared calendar, blocked focused drafting time each morning, and delegated routine client update calls to a paralegal with my prepared notes. I completed the schedule of loss two days early to allow senior review. Result: All three deadlines were met without extensions, the senior solicitor approved each document without material amendment, and no client complaints arose during the period.
